Following the completion of official TETRA Enhanced Data Service (TEDS) interoperability testing in late 2012, Cassidian TETRA infrastructure has been certified as being compatible with TEDS terminals from APSI and Motorola Solutions.

The testing was conducted by ISCTI (Istituto Superiore delle Comunicazioni e delle Tecnologie dell’Informazione), the independent Italian government test house appointed by the TETRA + Critical Communications Association (TCCA).

Harald Ludwig, chair of the TCCA Technical Forum, said: “With the publication of the IOP certificates for APSI and Motorola terminals on the Cassidian infrastructure, and the successful interoperability tests in Motorola Solutions with their TETRA Enhanced Data Service products in 2011, we have reached another milestone in our TETRA Interoperability testing. TEDS enables high speed data transmission in TETRA networks today and now has certified multi-vendor support.”

TEDS represents the high-speed data evolution of the TETRA radio communication standard, and will provide significantly faster data services than today’s TETRA networks without compromising any of the technology’s high-security or coverage capabilities.
