Suivo is offered in four configurations, which include map-based tracking for personnel or for vehicles, as well as the company’s own navigation system, which runs on an open software platform with a mobile data terminal. “We couple their radio with that”, Mr Penneman continues. “If the call centre sends a message, we translate the SDS to GPS (the message and the position) to the navigation. And then we see the status. ‘I have accepted the mission, I go... I will arrive in... (estimated time of arrival)’. “So they can follow their position and they can also manage the tasking and urgent messages with the navigation. You don’t have to go to a different application and you don’t have to buy an additional device for the navigation. We own the technology and this means we can interface and adapt to the real needs of the public safety markets.” In a trial of Suivo with police vehicles in a region of southern Belgium, the system was made to work fully in just half a day, Mr Penneman reports.
