The TETRA + Critical Communications Association 

The TETRA MoU (Memorandum of Understanding), now the TCCA (the TETRA + Critical Communications Association), provides the central role in the enhancement of the TETRA standard. We advise and inform existing and potential customers, manufacturers, suppliers and partners around the world and promote the TETRA standard to countries and their governments. In addition we look at new, future and complementary technologies, with mobile broadband the immediate focus. 

Our Members include manufacturers, application providers, integrators, operators, test houses and telecommunications agencies. The TCCA represents more than 160 organisations from all continents of the world, providing a forum for all those interested in TETRA and the future of critical communications.

First TEDS interoperability testing

In 2011, Cassidian announced the field trial of TEDS with Virve in Finland and Motorola Solutions obtained the first IOP certificate for its TEDS infrastructure and its TEDS capable mobile unit.

This year the two companies have taken a step further in multi-vendor interoperability by announcing that they have successfully completed private interoperability (IOP) testing of the Motorola TEDS-capable mobile terminal on Cassidian’s TEDS-capable infrastructure.

This paves the way for the first multi-vendor TEDS IOP certification by the end of 2012.

Interoperability testing between companies has been a major success factor for TETRA, and with TEDS being the wide area mission critical data service available for years to come, TEDS-interoperability is essential to continue the evolution of TETRA capability.
